Two Bodies - One Heart Beat

Horses have amazing hearing. They can hear our hearts beating from 4 feet away. In the wild horses synchronise their heart beats to other horses around them so they can sense any threat to the herd. If one horse senses danger they all feel it.

When I’ve had clients say ‘I’m sure horses know I’m frightened of them’ - I knew they were right.

When horses interact with their human friends they sync with their heat beats in just the same way sensing changes in moods. That’s why they seem to bring comfort when needed.

When meditating we tap into this connection, if we slow our breathing down and consequently our heart rate slows we are inviting the horses into a relaxed and calm frame of mind, allowing them to feel safe and supported. Understanding this helps to explain the reaction the horses have during a meditation session.
